The San Diego State softball team had its school-record tying 13-game winning streak snapped in a 3-2 loss to Utah Thursday night at SDSU Softball Stadium. The loss dropped the Aztecs to 27-15 and 3-1 in Mountain West Conference play, while the Utes improved to 23-16 and 1-0.

SDSU came back from a 2-0 deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning when junior Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) ripped a single down the left field line that scored seniors Lindsey Marquez (Tustin, Calif.) and Jessica Camello (Temecula, Calif.).

Utah, however, answered with an unearned run in the seventh as Brooke Olson hit a two-out double, then scored on a fielding error by San Diego State.

The Aztecs got one baserunner in the bottom half of the seventh when junior Ashley Rose (Antioch, Calif.) walked, but Ute reliever Naomi Amu (8-6) was able to get out of the inning for the win.

Maeva had two of SDSU's seven hits to raise her batting average to .371. Senior Jen Wisneski (Riverside, Calif.) extended her career-long hitting streak to 14 games, while Marquez, Camello, freshman Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) and sophomore Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) also singled for San Diego State.

Junior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) (14-8) took the loss after allowing one unearned run on just two hits over three innings of relief. She struck out six of the 12 batters she faced. Senior All-American Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) started the game and gave up two runs on seven hits over four innings. She had three strikeouts.

Jackie Sweet hit a solo home run and Sandi Bowles drove in the other run for Utah.

San Diego State continues its four-game homestand Friday (6 p.m. PT) against Brigham Young.
