Aztec Softball Set For Home-and-Home Series With San Diego
The San Diego State softball team will meet San Diego in a home-and-home series this weekend, beginning Saturday (1 p.m. PT) at home.

Winners of six consecutive games, 10 of their last 11 and 12 of their last 15, the Aztecs (20-14) play host to the Toreros (10-11) at 1 p.m. PT Saturday to kick off the weekend. The same teams meet Sunday at 1 p.m. PT at USD Softball Complex.

Eleven of San Diego State's 14 losses this season have come against nationally ranked teams, including seven against top-10 schools and 2010 Women's College World Series foes. For the season, 16 of the Aztecs' opponents made last year's NCAA tournament.

Junior Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) leads the team with a .368 batting average. Maeva, who on Tuesday was named the MWC Player of the Week, has eight doubles, three home runs and 22 RBIs. Redshirt senior Lindsey Marquez (Tustin, Calif.) is hitting .310 with a league-high four triples, while freshman Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) (.293), senior Jessica Camello (Temecula, Calif.) (.290) and senior Jen Wisneski (Riverside, Calif. (.290) have also contributed offensively. Freshman Lorena Klopp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) has already set a school record with nine home runs and leads the team with 24 RBIs and a .633 slugging percentage.

Junior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) leads the pitching staff with a 10-7 record and 2.00 ERA over 94 2/3 innings. Sophomore Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) is 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA over 35 1/3 innings, while senior All-American Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) is 7-6 with a 3.37 ERA and a league-high three saves over 79 innings.
