SAN DIEGO - San Diego State center Paris Johnson (San Diego, Calif.) and forward Jessika Bradley (Sacramento, Calif.), who both completed standout Aztec basketball careers last month, have earned invitations to a WNBA pre-draft camp Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind. - site of the 2011 NCAA Final Four.
The invitation-only camp at Pike High School will be conducted by ProHoops and is run by former coaches Linda Hargrove and Jessie Kenlaw. It allows elite college seniors and other former and current professionals to showcase their talent in front of WNBA coaches and front office members in anticipation of the Draft, slated for Monday, April 11, at the ESPN studios in Bristol, Conn.
The school's all-time leader in career blocks and consecutive starts, Johnson was a four-time all-Mountain West Conference pick and a two-time selection to the league's all-defensive squad. The San Diego High grad rounded out her collegiate career by ranking second in program history in field goals (647) and free-throw attempts (530) and is third in points (1,598).
Bradley plays two seasons at SDSU and was named the 2010 Mountain West Conference Newcomer of the Year and a 2011 third-team all-league honoree. As a senior, she led the conference in blocked shots and posted a team season-high in rebounds for the second campaign in a row.
A year ago, former SDSU point guard Quenese Davis attended the same camp and currently plays in Austria for the Flying Foxes. Davis was recently named the MVP in helping her team to the Chevrolet Cup title and an undefeated 26-0 record entering the AWBL semifinals on Thursday.
Davis' backcourt teammate, Jené Morris, became the first Aztec to ever be selected in the WNBA Draft, going in the first round (11th overall) to the Indiana Fever last April. She appeared in 25 games for the Fever in 2010, before playing overseas in both Poland and Israel.
