SAN DIEGO - Oklahoma scored six times in the second inning en route to a 13-5 victory over San Diego State Sunday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium. It was second straight day that an opponent had put up six runs in an inning after the Aztecs had taken an early lead.

With the win, the No. 3-ranked Sooners remained perfect on the season with a 14-0 mark. The Aztecs, meanwhile, saw their record fall to 2-9.

SDSU got on the board in the first as it put up a pair of runs against sooner starter Dillon Overton. With one out, Pat Colwell singled and Brandon Meredith followed with a walk. After a double steal, freshman Brad Haynal singled up the middle to bring home both runners for a quick 2-0 lead.

It marked the beginning of excellent offensive afternoons for both Colwell and Haynal. Colwell ended the day with four hits, two runs scored and a stolen base while Haynal had three hits and two runs batted in.

San Diego State's two-run lead was short-lived, however, as Oklahoma scored six times in the top of the second on seven hits and an Aztec error. The big blow was a three-run home run to left center field by Sooner left fielder Max White.

A solo homer by OU's Evan Mistich in the third extended the Sooners' lead to 7-2 and ended the afternoon for SDSU starter TJ Kendzora. The freshman right-hander went 2.1 innings allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits. The loss dropped his record to 1-2 on the season.

Oklahoma starter Dillon Overton shut SDSU down from the second through fifth innings although the Aztecs had a hit in each frame. Overton, who would be credited with the win to improve to 3-0, left the game after five innings after giving up the two runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

After the visitors added two runs to their total in the sixth and one in the seventh, SDSU rallied for three runs of its own in its half of the seventh. Singles by Evan Potter and Colwell set the stage for a two-run double to right by Brandon Meredith, who then scored on Blair Moore's pinch-hit single up the middle.

San Diego State will make its first road trip of the season when it travels to face Cal State Northridge on Tuesday, March 8, for a 2:00 p.m. contest at Matador Field.
