The San Diego State softball team gave up two runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning in a 2-1 loss to Cal Poly Sunday at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs, who are receiving votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, dropped to 8-10 this season with just their second loss to an unranked opponent.

SDSU took a 1-0 lead in the fifth when junior Ashley Rose's (Antioch, Calif.) single scored senior Jessica Camello (Temecula, Calif.).

The Mustangs (3-17) answered in the sixth as Anna Cahn drilled a 1-1 pitch over the center field wall for a two-run homer. It was the third home run of the day for Cahn, who had two solo ones In Cal Poly's earlier game against Baylor.

San Diego State was unable to answer in the seventh and fell for the third consecutive game.

Aztec junior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) took the loss after allowing two runs on four hits and a walk over six innings. She struck out three and is now 5-6 on the season.

Mustang pitcher Trista Thomas was just as effective, limiting the SDSU offense to just one run on two hits and five walks over seven innings.

Senior Jen Wisneski (Riverside, Calif.) had the other hit for San Diego State, which had three runners in scoring position thrown out by the Cal Poly infield.

The Aztecs wrap up their play in the 21st annual Campbell/Cartier Classic on Monday with a 6 p.m. PT game against Baylor.
