COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State junior pitcher Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) has been named the Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Micetich helped the Aztecs to a 5-1 record last week, including a 4-1 mark at the San Diego Classic II. The right-hander went 3-0 with a 0.32 ERA over 21 2/3 innings. She struck out 27 against just two walks, while limiting her opponents to a .213 batting average. Micetich started four times and was a part of three shutouts (one solo, two combined). Of the 17 hits she allowed, 14 were singles (other three were doubles).
Against Saint Louis on Tuesday, Micetich got the start and gave up two hits over three innings, while striking out four as SDSU won, 6-0. She picked up the win on Thursday against Harvard after giving up one unearned run on three hits and two walks over three innings, while striking out four.
The following day against Wisconsin, Micetich struck out eight in a complete game four-hit shutout. On Saturday against Ohio State, she allowed a run on six hits over four innings and struck out five as San Diego State came from behind to beat Ohio State, 4-2. In the nightcap, Micetich struck out six and allowed two hits over 4 2/3 scoreless innings in the Aztecs' 8-0, six-inning victory over Ohio.
On the season, Micetich is 10-7 and leads the league with a 1.93 ERA. She has 90 strikeouts in 87 innings, has six complete games and five total shutouts (one solo, four combined).
SDSU heads to No. 13/12 Stanford's Invitational this weekend, beginning with a 9 a.m. PT Friday game against Sacramento State.
