SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Four San Diego State boats place second in their respective races as each finished behind Sacramento State Saturday morning at Lake Natoma near Sacramento, Calif.
The day began with the Varsity 4 event in which the Hornet's boat crossed the finish line in 7:35 followed by the Aztecs with a time of 8:04.50. In the next race, SDSU's Second Varsity 8 boat also finished second in 7:02, some 18 second behind the Sac State entry (6:44.8).
In the closest race of the day, San Diego State's Varsity eight was just six second behind the host school as it clocked a 6:44.8 compared to Sac State's time of 6:38.2.
In the meet's final event, the Hornets' Novice 8 boat finished in 7:07.2 with the Aztecs completing the race in 7:31.8 and placing ahead of the Sac State B team (8:11.7).
San Diego State will remain in northern California to take on UC Davis on Sunday, March 20, with the first of three races against the Aggies scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. start at the Port of Sacramento.
