- San Diego State claims its first victory in a NCAA Tournament game since defeating UC Davis, 79-72, on March 9, 1968, in a NCAA Division II regional consolation game. Today snaps a streak of 15,713 days without a victory in NCAA Tournament play. SDSU is now 1-6 in NCAA Tournament play in the Division I era.
- Steve Fisher is on the winning sidelines of a NCAA Tournament game for the 21st time of his career. He has led teams to a 21-9 mark as a head coach in the NCAA Tournament.

Today marked the first time in his career in which he has grabbed 10 rebounds or more in two straight outings... It is his fourth career double-double... Recorded his fifth double-figure rebounding game of his career...
