SAN DIEGO - San Diego State swimmers Kelly Marquenie and Katelyn Weddle have been invited to participate in the upcoming NCAA Championship meet to be held March 17-19 in Austin, Texas.

Marquenie, a freshman from Gold Coast, Australia, qualified in the 1650 free with the time of 16:15.53 that she set at last weekends' Mountain West Conference Championships in Oklahoma City. That mark set a new school, meet and conference record. Marquenie will also compete in the 200 and 500 freestyle at the NCAA meet, events she won at the MWC championships in school-record time.

Weddle, a sophomore from Yuma, Ariz., will be making her second straight appearance at the NCAA Championships where she finished 12th in the 100 breaststroke a year ago. As she did last season, she qualified in the 100 breast and will also compete in the 200 breaststroke in Austin.

In addition to Weddle and Marquenie, a pair of SDSU divers will have a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships when they compete at the Zone E regional meet in Minneapolis March 10-12. Junior Kristen Meier, the SDSU record holder in all three dives, and freshman Anna Steiner will vie for NCAA meet qualification at the Zone competition next week.
