With several schools still yet to complete the second round, the San Diego State women's golf team currently stands in seventh place at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. The Aztecs were one of eight in the 16-squad field that were able to finish Monday's 36 holes, posting a 23-over 599, highlighted by a first-round 296, at the par-72, 6,321-yard The Golf Club at Vistoso. SDSU is currently one stroke behind sixth-place Stanford and four out of fourth place, however, four of the top five teams have yet to finish the second round.

The Aztecs were led on day one by senior Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) and sophomore Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.), who are both tied for 19th at 3-over 147. The pair each opened with a first-round 73 and then carded a 2-over 74 in the afternoon. Arcala boasted 12 total bogeys, 10 birdies and 14 pars, while Wong was a bit more consistent with 27 pars, four birdies, four bogeys and a double-bogey.

Sophomore Alessia Knight (Bologna, Italy) is tied for 37th at 9-over 153, while senior Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) was tied for 16th place with a first-round 73, before finding some trouble in the second round with a pair of triple bogeys and double bogeys offset by only three birdies to currently stand in 52nd at 12-over 156. Junior Malin Enarsson (Gotheburg, Sweden) rounded out the Aztec starting five with an uncharacteristic 16-over 160 to tie for 70th place.

SDSU sophomore Gina Clark (Murrieta, Calif.), who is competing as an individual, is currently tied for 30th at 6-over 135, but still has the 14th through 17th holes yet to complete in the second round.

Host Arizona is currently in first place at 5-under par, but still has three of its golfers out on the course in the second round. Idaho's Kayla Mortellaro and Cal's Joanne Lee are both atop the individual leaderboard at 5-under 139, having both completed the 36 holes.

Players will finish the second round at 7:45 a.m. MT, before the entire field gets underway for the final 18 holes at 8:15 a.m. Live results are available on golfstat.com, as well as goaztecs.com.
