Bruin Wave Invite - Round 1 Results in PDF Format

San Diego State junior golfer Malin Enarsson is currently tied atop the individual leaderboard with a first-round 3-under 69 at the 54-hole Bruin Wave Invitational Monday in Santa Clarita, Calif. Enarsson is one of three Aztecs in the top 25, as SDSU is in third place out of 15 schools with a 7-over 295, which is the team's best round thus far in 2011.

Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden), who is tied for first with UCLA's Glory Yang, led the entire 84-golfer field with six birdies on the par-72, 6,282-yard Valley Course at Robinson Ranch Golf Club. She had four birdies on her opening nine holes to offset a double-bogey on the par-4 15th. She then went birdie-bogey-par-birdie on her next four holes and finished out the day with five consecutive pars. Enarsson's 69 is the team's first sub-70 round of the season, her first since 2008, and fourth overall in her collegiate career.

Two SDSU golfers, sophomore Gina Clark (Murrieta, Calif.) and senior Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.), are currently tied for 21st place at 3-over 75. Clark was at 5-over heading into the final three holes, but then rallied with back-to-back birdies before notching a par to finish out the first of three days of competition. Arcala, meanwhile, had 13 pars, including eight on her final 10 holes.

Aztec sophomore Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) is just one stroke behind the duo with a 76 to tie for 31st place and senior Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) rounded out the starting five with a first-round 77 to tie for 36th.

Competing individually, sophomore Alessia Knight (Bologna, Italy) was at 4-over par heading into the final four holes, but then had three bogeys, a double bogey and only one birdie to drop into a tie for 57th place with an 80.

Third-ranked and tournament co-host UCLA currently leads the team race by a healthy 11-stroke margin over No. 7 Arizona, as the only squad under par at 7-under 281.

San Diego State will be paired with both the Bruins and Wildcats for Tuesday's second-round, starting at the first hole at 10:10 a.m.
