The 22nd-ranked San Diego State softball team outhit No. 10/11 Washington, but committed six errors and left 12 on base in a 6-3 loss in the final game of the San Diego Classic I Sunday at SDSU Softball Stadium. Each of the Aztecs' (5-3) three losses this year have come against top-10 teams and 2010 Women's College World Series programs.

SDSU, which is receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA poll and No. 22 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, got solid pitching performances from junior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) and senior All-American Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS). The duo limited the Huskies (8-0), who came into the weekend with a .517 batting average, 17 home runs and 88 runs in five games (17.6 runs per game), to just five hits.

Micetich (3-2) started the game and allowed five runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks over four innings, while striking out three. Beasley struck out three and gave up one hit (a solo homer) over three innings of relief.

The pitching performances weren't enough, however, as the six errors by San Diego State were its most since the 2007 season and the 12 runners left on base were its most since May 2, 2009, against Brigham Young. The Aztecs left runners on base in all seven innings, including two apiece in the first, third, fifth, sixth and seventh.

SDSU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when sophomore Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) singled home redshirt senior Lindsey Marquez (Tustin, Calif.).

UW responded with solo runs in the second (fielding error) and third (RBI single) to take a 2-1 lead.

Freshman Lorena Klopp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) answered for San Diego State in the fourth with a two-out, two-run homer well over the left-center field wall. It was her third home run this season in eight games.

After back-to-back errors to begin the fifth, Morgan Stuart made the Aztecs pay with a three-run homer to left field.

Niki Williams' leadoff home run in the seventh ended the scoring for Washington.

Freshman Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) had two hits and a walk to pace the SDSU offense, while Marquez and May chipped in with two hits apiece. Klopp added the two-run homer and a walk.

The schedule doesn't get any easier for San Diego State next weekend at the Cathedral City Classic in Cathedral City, Calif., where it is scheduled to play Indiana (6 p.m. PT Thursday), No. 3/7 Tennessee (8:30 p.m. PT Thursday), No. 5/5 Florida (1 p.m. PT Friday), Florida State (8:30 p.m. PT Saturday) and No. 4/2 Arizona (3 p.m. PT Sunday).
