LOS ANGELES - Freshman Lorena Klopp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) homered, drove in five and earned a pitching victory to lead the San Diego State softball team to a pair of wins Saturday at the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament in Los Angeles. The Aztecs (3-0), who are receiving votes in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball polls, run-ruled Utah State, 10-1, in five innings in the first game and then defeated Central Florida, 5-1, in the nightcap.

In the opener against the Aggies (0-3), Klopp wrapped up a six-run, second inning for SDSU with a two-run homer over the center field fence. It was the second consecutive game that Klopp homered.

Senior Jessica Camello (Temecula, Calif.) and freshman Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) each went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to pace the San Diego State offense, while freshman Katie Mathis (Grass Valley, Calif.) was 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored in her first collegiate game. Senior Jen Wisneski (Riverside, Calif.) added an RBI single.

Klopp (1-0) earned the win for the Aztecs, allowing one run on three hits and two walks over four innings. She struck out two. Sophomore Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) struck out one in an inning of relief.

In the second game, SDSU spotted the Knights a first-inning score, and then scored five unanswered in the 5-1 triumph.

San Diego State loaded the bases with one out in the third on a double (Wisneski), a hit by pitch (Miles) and a walk (redshirt senior Lindsey Marquez (Tustin, Calif.)), before Klopp cleared them with a double to left field.

The Aztecs added two insurance runs with two outs in the sixth. Sophomore Kristin May (Corona, Calif.) doubled home Kamerin May with the first SDSU run and was then replaced by pinch-runner Devin Gray (Durham, Calif.). Junior Ashley Rose (Antioch, Calif.) followed with a single up the middle to score Gray with the final run of the game.

UCF took the lead in the top of the first off San Diego State pitcher Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.). Central Florida loaded the bases with one out on two singles and an unintentional, intentional walk, but could only get one run across on Marissa Menendez' sacrifice fly.

Micetich (1-0) settled down after the first inning and allowed just the one run on seven hits. She struck out seven and walked two over seven frames.

Wisneski was a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles to lead the Aztec offense. Klopp had the bases loaded double in the third and now has six RBIs in three collegiate games.

SDSU wraps up is play in the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament tomorrow with games against Utah State (11:30 a.m. PT) and the host, top-ranked and defending national champion UCLA (2 p.m. PT).
