SAN DIEGO - San Diego State recruit Isabelle Pickett has been selected to play for the Australian National Team at the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Under-19 World Championships. Pickett was one of 18 named to the Australian squad, which will compete in the championships from Aug. 3-13, 2011, in Hanover, Germany.
"I am excited for Isabelle to represent Australia at the U-19 world championships," head coach Kylee White said. "Representing your country at the national stage is an incredible achievement and an experience that she will treasure for the rest of her life. Bella's hard work, dedication and passion for lacrosse has taken her to the next level and I believe that those qualities will help our program as we begin play next season."
"I'm proud to be selected to represent my country at the U-19 world cup," Pickett said. "I am thrilled for this exciting opportunity and can't wait to share my experiences with my future San Diego State teammates."
An Adelaide, Australia, native, Pickett has represented South Australia in nine national competitions, including a national championship win in 2010. Pickett also starred for the competitive Brighton Bombers Lacrosse Club team, which won three straight league championships (2008-10). A 5-foot-5-inch midfielder, Pickett is a scholar-athlete and also a high school letterwinner in cross country, soccer, tennis, and beach volleyball.
