SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team won its first dual match of the year at the Aztec Winter Invite last weekend. Hosting the event at the Aztec Tennis Center, the Aztecs defeated UC Riverside on Sunday with a team score of 7-0. In two separate non-team scoring events, the Aztecs went winless on Saturday against San Diego and took six of eight matches on Monday against UC Irvine.
SDSU senior Giovanni Vaglietti, who had a frustrating loss on Saturday against San Diego's Dean Jackson, 7-5, 7-5, rebounded on day two by defeating UCR's Quoc Doan, 6-1, 6-2. Vaglietti also paired with freshman Hunter Nicholas in doubles play over the weekend, defeating the pair of Doan and Felix Macherez, UCR, 8-0 on Sunday.
San Diego State will travel to Los Angeles for the National Team Indoor Qualifying on January 28-29.
