COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State softball player Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) has been named the Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It is the fifth weekly award of the season for the junior and the ninth of her career.

Beasley led the Aztecs to a 3-1 record last week with two of the victories coming on the road. A right-hander, Beasley went 3-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA over 19 2/3 innings, appearing in all four contests. She tossed two complete game shutouts, while striking out 33 batters to just six walks. Beasley limited the opposition to five hits (all singles) and a .076 batting average.

On Tuesday, Beasley threw a six-inning shutout with nine strikeouts in SDSU's 8-0 win at Long Beach State. She allowed two singles and three walks over the six frames. At Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday, Beasley earned the win after tossing 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief. She gave up one hit and a walk, while fanning seven of the 14 batters she faced.

Beasley pitched three hitless innings of relief in San Diego State's 3-2 loss at San Diego on Friday. She struck out five and allowed two walks. Beasley wrapped up her week Saturday with a two-hit, 12 strikeout performance in the Aztecs' 4-0 shutout over the Toreros at home.

This season, Beasley is 17-6 with a 0.79 ERA over 133 2/3 innings. She has 217 strikeouts, nine shutouts (six solo) and a save, while holding the opposition to a .151 batting average.

Among the national leaders, Beasley ranks fourth in ERA, eighth in strikeouts per seven innings (11.36), 10th in strikeouts, 14th in hits allowed per seven innings (3.72), 16th in victories, 17th in shutouts and 23rd in walks allowed per seven innings (1.41).
