THE SCENE SETTER: No. 14 San Diego State continues its best start in 90 basketball seasons and its 10-game winning streak is its longest since 1955-56. The Aztecs defeat USD for a fifth straight time, the longest win streak for either team in the series since SDSU claimed six straight from 1979-84. The Aztecs have now won a school-record 19 consecutive non-conference home games, 21 straight games at home against unranked teams, 19 consecutive games in any location against unranked teams, 18 consecutive home games played in the month of December and nine consecutive home games overall.

THE BIG NOTES
* San Diego State has won 10 consecutive games overall, the second-longest winning streak in the 90-year history of the program. It is the longest winning streak in the Division I era and the longest since 1955-56. It is the longest winning streak for head coach Steve Fisher since he guided Michigan to 12 consecutive wins during the 1992-93 season. That year Michigan went 31-5, falling to North Carolina in the NCAA championship game.

* San Diego State, which started playing basketball in 1921, is 10-0 for the first time in the 90-year history of the program. Twice before the Aztecs had opened 8-0 (1984-85 and 2006-07), but lost their ninth game of the season. This also marks the best start for head coach Steve Fisher, who is currently in his 20th-full season as a head coach.

* San Diego State has won 19 consecutive games, in any location, against unranked teams dating back to a 76-66 loss at UNLV on Jan. 13, 2010.

* San Diego State has won 21 consecutive home games against unranked opponents dating back to a 69-59 loss to Brigham Young on Feb. 24, 2009.

* San Diego State has won 18 consecutive home games played during the month of December dating back to a 69-48 loss to 14th-ranked Arizona on Dec. 9, 2006.

* San Diego State has won nine consecutive home games dating back to last season.

* Tonight's game was a sellout. It is a school-record third consecutive sellout and marks the first time in school history the Aztecs have sold out three games in one season.

SERIES NOTES
* Senior guard D.J. Gay and senior forward Billy White become the fourth and fifth San Diego State players to play in four victories over USD. They join Michael Cage, Eddy Gordon and Eddie Morris.

* San Diego State has won five consecutive games in the series, the longest winning streak by either team since SDSU claimed six straight from 1979-1984. The Aztecs have won eight of the last nine encounters.

* The Aztecs recorded their largest margin of victory in the history of the series. Prior to tonight, SDSU's largest margin of victory was 23 points on Feb. 25, 1975. Today's margin was 28 points, which tied USD's 28-point win over SDSU on Dec. 4, 1999.

* San Diego State head coach Steve Fisher has eight victories in the series. No other head coach for either squad has more than six wins.

* The Aztecs improve to 5-0 this season against teams from the Golden State. San Diego State has won 10 consecutive games against teams from California dating back to last season (does not include exhibition games).
