The San Diego State men's soccer team gave up two goals over the final 5 minutes, 15 seconds in a 2-1, overtime loss Sunday at Washington. Playing their third consecutive road game, the Aztecs (10-6-2, 3-5-1) had their unbeaten streak snapped at four matches.

SDSU took the lead in the 84th minute when freshman Miles Byass (Highland, Calif.) ripped a shot that was originally stopped by the diving Husky (10-6-1, 4-5-0 Pac-10) goalkeeper Stephen Fung. Byass then pounced on his rebound and finished for the game's first goal. Byass now has four goals this season, all over the past four games.

UW would answer with just 1:27 left in regulation when Matt Van Houten finished off a scramble in front of the net, forcing overtime for the ninth time in 12 meetings between the two teams since 2005.

Washington ended the game 3:48 into the first overtime when Quinton Beasley headed in a cross from Michael Harris.

Each team had numerous chances to score before the late flurry of goals. San Diego State redshirt freshman Jordan Ongaro (Edmonton, Alberta) got off a 25-yard attempt that was right at Fung in the seventh minute for the first chance for either team.

In the 20th minute, Casey McCool almost got the Huskies on the scoreboard when he got by the Aztec defense and had a 1-on-1 opportunity with Aztec redshirt senior goalkeeper Brad Byrns (Alamo, Calif.). Byrns (10-6-2), however, came out nicely and forced McCool to push it over the net.

On the counterattack, SDSU sophomore Jose Altamirano (San Diego/Southwest HS) hit a direct kick toward the corner but UW defender Jamie Finch got to the line and headed it out of harm's way.

In the 23rd minute, Byrns made a diving save on a Zach Portillos shot from the right side.

San Diego State senior captain Raymundo Reza (Denver, Colo.) got free in the 36th minute but missed just left of the frame.

In the second half, Finch had the first quality opportunity in the 59th minute but Byrns punched the ball out of the box.

The score would remain scoreless until the three goals over the final 10:04.

Reza had three of the Aztecs' eight attempts, while Byass chipped in with two shots. Altamirano, Ongaro and redshirt junior Justin Davies (San Diego/Brooks School (Mass.)) added one attempt apiece.

Byrns played all 93:48 and made five saves in the loss.

SDSU will wrap up the regular season at 1 p.m. PT Saturday against nationally ranked UCLA at SDSU SportsDeck.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Junior captain Daniel Steres (Calabasas, Calif.) was named Man of the Match for his play in the back line. Steres helped the defense, which was playing its third consecutive match without starter Tyrone Martin (Indianapolis), keep Washington scoreless until the 89th minute of action. Steres played all 93:48 and won numerous balls in the air.
