SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State baseball program will hold its second annual Red-Black World Series this week as it winds down its 2010 fall practice season. The series will consist of a trio of nine-inning contests over three days and is open to the public free of charge. The Series is a chance for fans to get an early glimpse of the 2011 San Diego State baseball squad.

The losing World Series team will host a free car wash on Sunday (Nov. 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium and the public is invited to have their autos cleaned free of charge.

The three-game series will commence with contests on Thursday, Nov. 4, and Friday, Nov. 5 at 3:00 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The final game of the series is set Saturday (Nov. 6) at 1:30 p.m. The Aztecs will have full infield before each of the first two games with a complete batting practice session prior Saturday's game starting at 12:15 p.m.

Each team in the series has been appointed an "owner" and "general manager" who will preside over the Series draft which will take place on Wednesday (Nov. 3). Seniors Pat Colwell and Ryan Wynveen are the GM and owner of one team while the other will have senior Craig Rasmussen as its general manager and junior Jomel Torres as its owner. Rosters and pitching rotations will be available following the draft.

Following the Red-Black World Series, the team will continue its fall practice sessions through the end of next week. The Aztecs will open their 2011 campaign on Friday, February 18, with a game against Winthrop at 6:00 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
