LONG BEACH, Calif. - San Diego State men's soccer players Raymundo Reza (Denver, Colo.) and Tyrone Martin (Indianapolis, Ind.) each picked up postseason awards from Top Drawer Soccer, the website announced today. Reza was selected to the Top Drawer Soccer Third Team, while Martin earned second-team all-rookie honors.
Reza, who earlier this month was chosen as a first-team all-Pac-10 selection, led the Aztecs in scoring for the third consecutive season with 18 points on six goals and six assists. The senior captain also led the squad in goals, shots (70), shots on goal (25) and penalty kick goals (3). Reza started the final 55 games of his career, including all 19 this season.
A freshman defender, Martin started all 14 games he appeared in until an injury sidelined him the final few matches of the season. One of three freshmen who regularly started in the back for SDSU, Martin helped San Diego State to post six shutouts. He became the first Aztec since 2006 (Nick Cardenas and Evan Toft) to earn all-rookie team accolades.
SDSU finished the season with a 10-7-2 record and became the first San Diego State 10-win team since 1994 (10-9-0).
