SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State volleyball team opened its final home stand of the 2010 season with a three-set victory over Cal State Bakersfield Saturday evening in Peterson Gym. With the win the Aztecs evened their record at 14-14 while the Roadrunners remained winless on the year with a 0-28 mark.

SDSU spread the offense around over the three sets as Kyley Sexton and Summer Nash led the team with seven kills apiece. Right behind that twosome were Andrea Hannasch and Jessica Peacock with six kills each.

The Aztecs finished the match with a .247 hitting percentage while limiting Bakersfield to a .021 mark. San Diego State was also dominant in the blocking department with 15 team blocks to four by the visitors. Hannasch and Peacock recorded six apiece while Section chipped in with four.

Senior Lauren Salisbury, who had not seen action since injuring her wrist in late September, made her return with limited action in the final two sets. She ended the evening with three kills on three attempts and also contributed four blocks.

Cal State Bakersfield's Alysia Baker led all players with nine kills followed by teammate Linda DeGeare with seven.

San Diego State got off to a quick start in the opening set, winning the first three points and maintaining the lead for the entire contest. Three kills apiece by Sexton and freshman Ragan Shelton paced the Aztecs, who hit .360 for the set.

The second set was the closest of the three and the teams stayed within a point of each other up to 11-11. From there the Aztecs scored four in a row on two kills by Sexton and one from Hannasch plus a Roadrunner hitting error. CSUB rallied to get to within a point as 23-22, but another kill by Sexton and a Bakersfield attack error gave SDSU the three-point victory.

Set number three saw San Diego State take a slim lead and slowly widen that margin over the course of the contest. Leading 10-9, the Aztecs scored six of the next seven points to take control of the set. The visitors closed the gap to three points at 18-15, but SDSU won seven of the contest's final eight points to win going away. Hannasch and Nash tallied three kills each while Peacock added four blocks.

Up next for San Diego State is a return to Mountain West Conference action as it hosts league rival UNLV on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 7:00 p.m. in Peterson Gym.
