SAN DIEGO -

The San Diego State cross country team continues its championship season Saturday at the 2010 NCAA West Regionals in Springfield, Ore. The 6,000-meter race, which will be hosted by national power Oregon, is scheduled for a 9:45 a.m. PT start time at the Springfield Country Club.

The Aztecs are coming off their best Mountain West Conference Cross Country Championship team finish since 2005. SDSU took seventh in the event in Laramie, Wyo., on Oct. 29, the best finish of the conference's non-elevation schools. It marked the second consecutive championship meet that they improved on their previous year's performance (eighth in 2009, ninth in 2008).

San Diego State is expected to be led by the duo of Marianne Hogan and Sara Beyers, who have finished first and second, respectively, in all five events for the team this season.

Hogan continued her fantastic season by finishing 20th of 71 runners at the MWC Championships. The two-time MWC Athlete of the Week has three top-10 finishes this year, including a win at the Pomona Pitzer Invitational. Beyers, meanwhile, is coming off of a 49th-place finish at the MWC Championships.

Senior Alma Escobar has also been in SDSU's top five all of 2010, while junior Josefine Koskinen is hoping to build off a third-place team finish at the conference championships.
