SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team received votes in both major college football polls on Sunday for the third consecutive week. The Aztecs received the 27th-most votes in both the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches' polls after beating conference foe Colorado State to improve to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in league action.
This week's appearance in the polls marks SDSU's most substantial recognition of the season. The Aztecs received 33 more votes in the AP Top 25 (42 total) and 40 more votes in the USA Today Coaches' edition (44 total) than they received a week ago. The Red and Black are now just two spots away from being ranked in the top 25 for the first time in 15 years, when it reached the No. 25 spot by the AP on Nov. 7, 1995.
SDSU is one of only three Mountain West Conference schools to receive votes in either poll, joining No. 3 TCU and No. 15 Utah. Those schools make up two of the Aztecs' three remaining games of the 2010 regular season.
San Diego State, which is also receiving votes in ESPN.com's power rankings, returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 13, when they travel to Fort Worth to take on No. 3 TCU in the Aztecs' last road game of the year.
