San Diego State sophomore golfer Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) posted her fifth career top-10 finish Tuesday by tying for sixth with a 54-hole total of 7-over 220 at the Windy City Collegiate Classic in Highland Park, Ill. Wong, however, was the only Aztec in the top 20 as the team ended up fifth overall with a two-day total of 54-over 906.

With a frost delay and temperatures in the high 40s, Wong started the day at 5-over par through the first 10 holes before bouncing back with three consecutive birdies and birdies on four of the next five holes overall. She carded pars on the 16th and 17th, before finishing the tourney with her fifth birdie on the back nine to end up with a 2-over 73. Wong ended up in a six-way tie for sixth place, two strokes out of fourth and five behind medalist Numa Gulyanamitta of Purdue, who won the tournament with a 2-over 215.

SDSU senior Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) and junior Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) both posted final-round 75 to tie for 23rd and 26th respectively. Sophomore Alessia Knight (Bologna, Italy) dropped from 19th to 26th with a 79 to tie Enarsson at 18-over 231. Classmate Gina Clark (Murrieta, Calif.) rounded out the Aztec contingent in 33rd place with a 233, including a final-round 79.

Reigning NCAA champion Purdue won its third straight Windy City title by seven strokes over second place Iowa State with a 24-over 876.

San Diego State will be back in action for its third and final tournament of the 2010 fall season on Oct. 25-27, at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Boulder City, Nev., at the Boulder City Country Club.
