SAN DIEGO STATE (3-7-3; 1-0 MWC) at NEW MEXICO (7-1-3; 1-0 MWC)
Saturday, Oct. 9 | 5 p.m. MT | UNM Soccer Complex

AZTEC STORY LINES
- San Diego State takes its eight-game winning streak vs. Mountain West Conference foes and its 10-game unbeaten run vs. league opponents into Albuquerque, N.M., on Saturday, Oct. 9, when it faces New Mexico at UNM Soccer Complex. First tap is scheduled for 5 p.m. MT/4 p.m. PT.

- The match, which features two teams currently in a four-way tie for first place, can be viewed online courtesy of GoLobos.com. Live stats will also be available for the contest. Both links can be found at GoAztecs.com, as well as GoLobos.com.

- SDSU earned a much-needed victory last Friday as the Aztecs downed TCU, 1-0, in double overtime. Sophomore Sarah Halverson provided the Golden Goal at 107:55 with a well-placed shot into the upper left corner of the net. It was Halverson's third goal of the season and her second game-winner. The win also gave her a 2-0 career record against her sister, Kristen, who is a junior for the Horned Frogs.

- As previously mentioned, the Aztecs have won eight straight over Mountain West schools and are unbeaten in their last 10 vs. the league. San Diego State has not lost a match to a MWC team since Nov. 5, 2008, when TCU edged SDSU, 2-1, in overtime at the 2008 Mountain West Conference Championship. The Aztecs' last regular season defeat occurred on Oct. 31, 2008, against the Horned Frogs.

- Senior goalkeeper Aubree Southwick etched her name atop another SDSU career chart last Friday. With her first shutout of 2010, Southwick became San Diego State's all-time leader in career shutouts. The senior now has 24 and moved past Katherine Judkins, who had 23.5 from 1996-99. Earlier this season, the SDSU all-time saves leader stopped a school-record 16 shots at No. 18 Oregon State, which was three more than the previous school record of 13 set by Judkins (1996) and Tina Thompson (1993).

- For her performance against TCU, Southwick was named Mountain West Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. The award is her fourth of her career and first for an Aztec this season. Southwick shared the award with Utah's Hannah Turpen, who played only three halves in a 1-0 win over Air Force and a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Oregon State.

- With his 33rd career victory last Friday, fourth-year head coach Mike Friesen became the second winningest coach in San Diego State history. Friesen surpassed Lesle Gallimore, who coached SDSU from 1990-93, for second all-time. Friesen, however, has a long way to go to catch the winningest coach in Aztec history, Chuck Clegg. Clegg held his post for 11 seasons (1989, 1994-03) and guided San Diego State to a 122-81-8 record.

- Michaela DeJesus is providing the senior leadership for a young SDSU squad, which routinely starts a combination of seven to eight freshmen and sophomores per game. With the season-ending injury suffered by Cat Walker prior to the start of the year, DeJesus has been counted on to shoulder the offensive load. The senior shares the team lead in goals scored (3) with Sarah Halverson and owns the Aztec lead with three assists and nine points. Of her 23 shots, which ranks second on the team, 69.6 percent have come on goal (team-best 16 shots on goal). She has also played and started 12 of SDSU's 13 games.

- SDSU is in search of its first winning streak of the season. The Aztecs have not won more than one game in a row at any point this year. Their longest unbeaten streak of 2010 is three matches when the Aztecs tied Detroit and Utah State and followed it with a 2-1 victory over San Jose State. All three contests occurred at SDSU Sports Deck.

- San Diego State started the month of October like it ended it last year, and that was with a win. Dating back to a season ago, the Aztecs are 7-0-3 in the month and winners of their last six. During head coach Mike Friesen's tenure at SDSU, the Aztecs have gone a combined13-8-6 (4-3-1 in 2007, 2-5-2 in 2008, 6-0-3 in 2009, 1-0-0 in 2010) in the month of October.

- The Aztecs and Lobos will be meeting for the 18th time with San Diego State owning a 7-4-6 series lead. SDSU won last season's meeting in San Diego, 3-1, but the school's tied the three previous outings. The last time the teams met in Albuquerque, it resulted in a 1-1 double-overtime tie in 2008. The Aztecs are 1-3-4 in matches played in the Land of Enchantment, with their last victory over New Mexico coming in 1999.
