San Diego State's Sierra Ellison and Roxanne Ellison upset the 24th-ranked tandem in the nation to secure a spot in the finals, but ultimately fell short in capturing the title on Sunday at the USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Championships.

The eighth-seeded Ellisons defeated second-seeded and No. 24 Anamika Bhargava and Marie Zalameda of Pepperdine, 8-4, in the semifinals to guarantee themselves a spot in the championship match.

With the title on the line, the SDSU duo came up short in its bid to claim the championship as USC's top-seeded tandem of Valeria Pulido and Alison Ramos emerged with the 8-4 victory.

In the consolation singles bracket, Emma Cioffi opposed USC's Cristala Andrews and was downed in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.

The fifth and final day of the tournament is set for Monday. The singles main draw title match, which features top-seeded Maria Sanchez (USC) and sixth-seeded Danielle Lao (USC), is the only contest on the docket and is set for 10 a.m.
