USTA/ITA Regional Championships - Singles Main Draw | USTA/ITA Regional Championship - Doubles Main Draw
San Diego State plays host to the USTA/ITA Regional Championships this week at nearby Barnes Tennis Center beginning on Thursday morning. The annual event, which will include both singles and doubles, runs through Monday.
Doubles play is to start at 8:30 a.m., with the round of 64. Tandems with first-round byes will play their round of 32 matches at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, and will have Friday off. The draw has eight seeded duos, including No. 8 Roxanne Elllison and Sierra Ellison of San Diego State. Also representing SDSU are Emma Cioffi and Olivia Colman, as well as Alicia Aguilar and Julia Wais.
Singles action begins on Thursday with three of the four draws starting at 9:30 a.m. The fourth singles bracket is set to commence at 10:45 a.m. A second round of singles is also slated for Thursday with start times ranging from noon-2 p.m.
There are 16 seeded student-athletes in singles, including No. 8 Julia Trunk and 10th-seeded Aguilar. In the preseason ITA singles poll, Trunk is ranked No. 51, while Aguilar owns a national ranking of 65. Other Aztecs set to compete are Cioffi, Colman, Roxanne Ellison, Sierra Ellison and Wais.
First-round losers in singles and doubles will be placed in the consolation draw, which begins Friday. Backdraw singles will start at 9:30 and 10:45 a.m., while consolation doubles action commences at 2 p.m.
