LARAMIE, Wyo. - San Diego State concluded its first conference road trip of the season with a three set (25-23, 25-14, 25-18) loss to the University of Wyoming in a match played Saturday evening at the UniWyo Sports Complex in Laramie.

It was SDSU's second loss of the weekend and evened its Mountain West Conference mark at 2-2 (7-9 overall). Wyoming, meanwhile, improved to 16-2 on the season and upped its league ledger to 2-1.

After Thursday night's tough five-set loss at No. 18 Colorado State, the Aztecs were unable to sustain any kind of momentum against the Cowgirls. As a team, SDSU hit -.009 for the match, the team's lowest attack percentage of the season as it recorded more errors (27) than kills (26) on the night.

Junior outside hitter Kyley Sexton led SDSU with nine kills while freshman Raegan Shelton chipped in with seven, but no other Aztec recorded more than three. Shelton also had three blocks with teammate Andrea Hannasch tying for match-high honors with five.

Freshman setter Johnna Fouch finished the evening with 23 assists and 10 digs as she notched her sixth double-double effort of the season. Her dig total led SDSU and marked the third straight match in which she finished in double figures in that stat.

Wyoming's Jodi Purdy led all players with 14 kills as the Cowgirls hit .184 as a team over the three sets. JennaRae Jester tied Hannasch's block total with five while libero Jadranka Tramosljanin had a match-high 12 digs.

The opening set went back and forth with the lead changing hands six times as the score moved to 16-16 before Wyoming scored three straight to take 19-16 lead. After trailing 22-19, the Aztecs fought back to tie the score at 23-all, but a kill by UW's Reese Roehrkasse and an SDSU hitting error clinched to contest fro the Cowgirls.

In the second set, the teams split the first four points before Wyoming scored three straight to take the lead for good. The Aztecs could muster a total of only five kills in the contest as they were held to a -.161 attack percentage fro the game.

Set number three was more of the same as the home side took an early 4-1 lead and built that advantage over the remainder of the contest. The Aztecs stayed within three points as late as 12-9, but the Cowgirls used seven kills by Purdy in the set to slowly pull away.

San Diego State will now return home to prepare to face Brigham Young as it continues conference play against the Cougars on Thursday, Oct. 7, at 7:00 p.m. (PT) in Peterson Gym.
