SDSU Fall Classic I Day Two Results in PDF Format
Julia Trunk and Alicia Aguilar each advanced to the championship match in their singles draw to lead the San Diego State women's tennis team Saturday at the SDSU Fall Classic I.
Trunk, who is ranked No. 51 in the country, defeated Cal State Northridge's Brooke Doane, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, to advance to Sunday's championship in the Singles-Red draw. Trunk will face Hanna Mar of Duke, who downed SDSU's Julia Wais, 6-2, 6-2.
In the Singles-Black bracket, No. 65 Aguilar knocked off Nina Jaworowski of Cal State Northridge, 6-3, 6-2, and will face Loyola Marymount's April Bisharat for the championship on Sunday. Roxanne Ellison, meanwhile, withdrew to an injury in a match against USD's Marite Raygada.
Olivia Colman fell to San Diego's Julia Coupez, 6-1, 6-1, in the Singles-White draw, while Sabrina Man-Son-Hing of Cal State Northridge advanced past Sierra Ellison (injury).
In doubles action earlier in the day, San Diego State's top team of Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison dispatched Cal State Northridge's Brooke Doane and Maria Pastalu, 8-6, in the Doubles-Red draw. The Ellison's will face USD's Juliette Coupez and Maja Sujica in tomorrow's championship.
Julia Trunk and Alicia Aguilar moved to 2-0 in the Fall Classic I as well after downing the USD tandem of Laura Claus and Anna Depenau, 8-5. Trunk and Aguilar will meet LMU's April Bisharat and Miya Jin on Sunday.
The final day of the SDSU Fall Classic I begins at 9 a.m. PT Sunday.
