San Diego State, the reigning Mountain West Conference champions, finds itself ranked No. 22 in the FOXSports.com preseason top 25.

"Steve Fisher brings back more than 80 percent of his scoring, rebounding and assists from a team that nearly knocked off Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA tournament," said FOXSports.com's senior college basketball writer Jeff Goodman. "(Kawhi) Leonard was the Mountain West Freshman of the Year and he will team with (Malcolm) Thomas to form one of the best inside duos in the nation. The Aztecs also bring back the starting backcourt of (D.J.) Gay and (Chase) Tapley - and Fisher also adds Santa Clara transfer James Rahon, who averaged 11.3 points as a freshman and shot 40.7 percent from long distance."

The Aztecs, who were picked to win the MWC in the league's preseason media poll, earned their fourth national ranking in a preseason top-25 poll. Others who have selected SDSU for the top 25 heading into the 2010-11 campaign are ESPN.com's Andy Katz and Dick Vitale, and Lindy's Sports College Basketball 2010-2011 Preview.

Several teams that will appear on San Diego State's schedule also appear in FOXSports.com's preseason top 25, including No. 16 Gonzaga and 25th-ranked Brigham Young. SDSU will also face UNLV, Wichita State and Saint Mary's, which were listed as additional teams to watch this year. The Scarlet and Black will face the aforementioned clubs, minus Gonzaga, at home inside Viejas Arena.

The Aztecs return nine letterwinners and all five starters from last season's 25-9 team. Fisher's squad is one of just four 2010 NCAA Tournament teams that returns its entire starting lineup in 2010-11.

SDSU enters the 2010-11 season fresh off one of its most successful efforts after winning the MWC tournament crown and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. The Scarlet and Black have won 20 or more games and advanced to the postseason five consecutive seasons.
