The San Diego State men's tennis team announced its 2010-11 schedule Thursday afternoon. The fall season consists primarily of tournaments away from Montezuma Mesa, and is highlighted by the SDSU Fall Invite from Oct. 8-10 at Aztec Tennis Center.

The Aztecs will begin their campaign at the ITA All American Collegiate Classic. The event will take place from Oct. 2-10 in Tulsa, Okla.

Following the season-opener in Oklahoma, coach Gene Carswell's team returns to the friendly confines of the Aztec Tennis Center when they host the SDSU Fall Invite. The event is scheduled for Oct. 8-10.

San Diego State will stay in California and travel up the coast to the Oct. 21-25 ITA Regional Championships in Irvine, Calif., before concluding their fall schedule at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, Nov. 4-7. The tournament will take place at the prestigious USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y, site of the U.S. Open.

Following the Indoor Championships, the Aztecs take a two-month break before beginning their spring season at the Jan. 14-16 National Collegiate Tennis Championships in La Quinta, Calif.

SDSU then heads to Los Angeles, Jan. 28-29, to attempt to qualify for the National Team Indoor Championships, which will take place Feb. 18-20 in Fredricksburg, Va.

After their weekend of qualifying in Los Angeles, the Red and Black take their talents to Fresno to kick off their dual-match season against a pair of 2010 NCAA Tournament participants. The Aztecs square off against Texas Tech and Fresno State on Feb. 5 and 6, respectively. Both teams reached the second round of the NCAAs last season.

The Aztecs then return home for four consecutive duals at the Aztec Tennis Center. SDSU faces 2010 NCAA participant UC Irvine on Feb. 11, followed by Boise State on Feb. 13. Visits from San Diego (Feb. 18) and NCAA qualifier Hawai'i (Feb. 21) conclude the homestand.

Following a quick trek up to Santa Barbara to face UCSB on Feb. 25, San Diego State heads home to face Rice, another 2010 NCAA Tournament team, on Feb 28.

SDSU will stay in the San Diego area for their final four events before conference play. After competing in the Pacific Coast Doubles event in La Jolla, the Aztecs get a visit from NCAA quarterfinalist Oklahoma (March 13) at the Aztec Tennis Center. Four days later, they co-host the March 17-19 SDSU-USD Invite. A visit from San Francisco (March 25) concludes the non-conference slate.

The Aztecs open up Mountain West Conference play with a grueling series of road duals, beginning March 28 at 2010 MWC Tournament champion TCU. SDSU will stay in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area to face non-conference foe SMU on March 29 before hitting the road again for matches at New Mexico (April 1) and Air Force (April 3).

After four matches on the road, the Aztecs return home for their only two dual matches of the conference season. SDSU hosts Utah (April 7) and 2010 MWC regular season champion BYU (April 9) at the Aztec Tennis Center. Coach Carlswell's team will wrap up their conference season at UNLV on April 23.

The Red and Black will then head to Fort Collins, Colo., for the 2011 MWC Championships from April 27-30. Last season, the Aztecs reached the final of the championships, falling just short of earning the MWC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

The San Diego State men's tennis team finished the 2009-10 campaign with a 13-13 record and advanced to the championship match of the Mountain West Conference tournament. The Aztecs finished the year strong, winning four of their final five and nine of their last 11 matches.
