Marianne Hogan ran a collegiate-best 6,000-meter time to lead the San Diego State cross country team to a 13th-place finish of 24 teams at the Stanford Invitational Saturday at the Stanford Golf Course. Six of the other seven competing Aztecs also set personal-best times.
Hogan's time of 21 minutes, 32 seconds placed her 23rd of 212 runners. Hogan's best time in the 6K last year was 23:03.
The host and 13th-ranked Cardinal won the 24-team meet with 41 points, while California (86 points), Long Beach State (127), Cal Poly (134) and UCLA (168) rounded out the top five. SDSU finished with 395 points, just two behind 12th-place San Francisco (393) and a healthy 50-point gap ahead of 14th-place Cal Poly Pomona (445).
Sara Beyers (71st, 22:39), Josefine Koskinen (109th, 23:28), Amy Brown (118th, 23:33) and Alma Escobar (152nd, 24:18) made up San Diego State's top five and all bettered their previous 6K best times.
Jordan Davies finished 165th in 24:36, while Sabrina Rathor (183rd, 25:04) and Melissa Bunn (191st, 25:34) each ran 6K PR's.
The Aztecs are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 2) at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite beginning at 8 a.m. PT.
