SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State Department of Athletics will welcome a new class of six individuals this winter into its Aztec Hall of Fame, presented by the Wise Foundation.
The newest Aztecs to enter the Hall of Fame include two football players in defensive linemen Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (1996-99) and La'Roi Glover (1992-95), baseball player Doug Harvey (1955-56), four-time All-American track star Tonette Dyer (2002-04), two-time All-American volleyball player John Hyden (1992-95) and former Director of Athletics Fred Miller (1985-95).
The new class will be enshrined on Hall of Fame weekend, scheduled for Nov. 5-6. The official induction will take place Friday at the Aztec Athletics Center, and the group will be recognized on the field Saturday at halftime of the home football game against Colorado State.
The Aztec Hall of Fame, presented by the Wise Foundation, inducted its first members in 1988 and has welcomed a new group of legends every year through 1999. Inductions were put on hold for two years while work was completed on the Aztec Athletics Center, which is the first permanent home of the Hall of Fame. Not including this year's class, 108 individuals and five teams have been inducted since the Aztec Hall of Fame's inception.

Tonette Dyer - Women's Track and Field 2002-03-04-05 Four-time All-American ... 2002 All-American in the 400 meters ... 2003 All-American in the 4x400 relay ... 2004 All-American in the 100 and 200 meters ... NCAA Outdoor Championships participant in eight events over the course of her three-year SDSU career ... 2003 NCAA Indoor Championships participant ... Six-time MWC outdoor champion ... Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila - Football 1996-97-98-99 Was a standout with the Green Bay Packers, playing nine NFL seasons (2000-08) and logging 286 tackles ... Pro Bowl selection in 2003 ... Had 74.5 career sacks, including 10 or more four consecutive years from 2001-04, with a high of 13.5 to rank third in the league that year ... Finished career as Packers' all-time career sacks leader, moving past Hall of Famer Reggie White ... Most three-sack games in team history with five ... 17 multi-sack games and led the Packers in sacks five straight years ... Forced 18 fumbles and returned his only interception for a touchdown in 2002 ... Was a three-year starter and four-time letterman for San Diego State (1996-99) following a redshirt season in 1995 ... Finished his career as the Aztecs' all-time leader in sacks with 33, surpassing former Packer Mike Douglass, who had held the record with 26 ... Also had a school-record 46 tackles for loss among 242 total stops (138 solo), along with eight forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and six passes defended ... His 12 sacks in a season (accomplished in both 1997 and 1999) are the fourth best in San Diego State history ... La'Roi Glover - Football 1992-93-94-95 An all-WAC pick in 1994 and a successful NFL defensive lineman with the Raiders, Saints, Cowboys and finished his career as a member of the St. Louis Rams ... Played 13 NFL seasons from 1996-2008, combined for 320 tackles, 83.5 sacks, 8 forced fumbles and two interceptions ... Named to six consecutive Pro Bowls (2000-05) ... One of two players in Dallas Cowboys history to be named to Pro Bowl in each of his seasons with the club ... First team all-Pro in 2000, when he led the league in sacks with 17 .... Voted New Orleans Saints "Man of the Year" and "Unsung Hero" awards ... 2000 New Orleans Saints Defensive MVP award ... Rams 2007 Walter Payton Man of the Year ... NFL 2000s All-Decade team ... AP First Team in 2000 and Second Team in 1998, 2002 and 2003 ... Doug Harvey - Baseball 1955-56 Two year letterman for the Aztec baseball team ... Played shortstop, second and third base in his first season, then catcher in his second year ... Batted .326 as a junior in 1955 with 14 RBI's in 20 games ... In 1956, he hit .368 in 30 games with 24 RBI's ...Career batting average of .366 ... Had a two-year on-base percentage of .518 with a walk-to-strikeout ratio of almost two to one ... A National League umpire for 31 years (1962-92) ... Overall, he umpired at various levels for 47 years ... Umpired 4,888 games during his career, including six All-Star games, plus games in five World Series and eight National League Championship series ... Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in July.
John Hyden - Men's Volleyball 1992-93-94-95 First-team All-American selection in 1994 and 1995 ... His 56 kills in a match in 1994 was the best mark by any player in the nation that year ... Led the nation in kills per game ... Member of the U.S. National team for five years and participated in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics ... 1996 U.S. National Team MVP ... Fred Miller - Director of Athletics 1985-95 Served as athletic director at San Diego State (1985-95), Arizona State (1971-85) and Long Beach State (1967-71) ... While at SDSU, served on the NCAA's TV Committee, Committee on Committees and the Volleyball Tournament and Rules Committee ... Chaired the NCAA Medical Aspects of Sports and Competitive Safeguards as well as the NCAA High School All-Star Committee ... Also served as the chief administrative officer for a variety of NCAA regional and national championships ... Instrumental in gaining student support to build the Aztec Recreation Center and Viejas Arena ... Initiated corporate sponsorship program to fund scholarships ...
