SAN DIEGO - San Diego State head coach Brady Hoke was named one of the top coaching hires of 2009 in Athlon Sports' 2010 season preview. The publication praised Hoke for doubling the team's win total and significantly improving both the offense (99th to 86th) and defense (113th to 74th) in the national rankings.
Athlon also ranked San Diego State's 2010 recruiting class as fourth-best in the Mountain West Conference.
The Aztecs were well represented in the 2010 Preseason All-MWC Team, as well. Wide receiver Vincent Brown, tight end Alston Umuolo and punter Brian Stahovich all received first-team honors.
San Diego State kicks off their 2010 season with a home date against Nicholls State on Sept 4. Other important dates include the Sept. 25 KGB Sky Show and Kirk Morrison Replica Jersey Night on Nov. 20.
