SAN DIEGO - Forty-eight of San Diego State's top student-athletes have been honored for their work in the classroom by being named to the 2010 Mountain West Conference Spring All-Academic Team, which the league office announced Tuesday.

The women's track and field squad had the most representatives with 19 honorees. Four-time All-American Karoline Koehler (Erfurt, Germany) parlayed her track success into the classroom with a 3.87 GPA. Koehler's teammate, Leigh Rutherford, led all SDSU student-athletes with a 3.95 grade-point average.

The San Diego State softball, swimming and diving and women's tennis teams combined for 19 all-academic selections. Six of the eight players on the women's tennis team were honored, including sisters Roxanne and Sierra Ellison, who posted 3.85 and 3.66 GPAs respectively.

To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at their school while maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor to their team.
