WOODLAND, Calif. - A school-record-tying six San Diego State water polo student-athletes earned 2010 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic honors, league executive director Al Beaird announced Wednesday. This year's group matches the six who garnered the same accolades back in 2005.
SDSU's record-setting six-some includes, juniors Sarah Brady, Kierstin Hill and Jenna Natalizio, and sophomores Kelly Campoli, Leanne Ford and Lindsey Morris.
All six have cumulative grade-point averages of 3.0 or better, are at least sophomores academically, have completed one full academic year at San Diego State prior to the 2010 season, and have competed in 50 percent or more of the Aztecs' competition this year.
As mentioned before, the six SDSU honorees tied the program record, which was established in 2005. The `05 award winners included Cia Cobb, Dominique Delgado, Monica DeRosier, Sarah Kilgore, Ashley Reta and Becca Ur.
San Diego State is coming off its school-record fifth straight 20-win campaign after finishing the season with a 21-15 record. The Aztecs also finished the year ranked in a tie for ninth place in the final Collegiate Water Polo Association Top-20 poll. This marks the fifth consecutive season in which SDSU has finished in the top-10 of the national poll.
