2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Americans

Junior Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) has been named to the 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-America Third Team, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Wednesday. The three All-American teams are voted on by coaching representatives for the NFCA. Beasley was chosen as an at-large/pitcher selection.

Beasley is the second NFCA All-American in school history, joining Erin Floros, who garnered third-team honors in 2006. Floros (2006, first team) and Christina Ross (2008, second team) also were Easton-Bell Sports All-Americans, which honors those players and schools sponsored by Easton-Bell Sports.

Beasley, who also earned NFCA all-West Region first-team accolades and Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Year honors earlier this year, put together one of the best seasons in school history in 2010. Beasley went 29-11 with a 1.20 ERA in 240 innings pitched, while striking out a school-record 354 batters (79 more than the previous record). She added 14 shutouts (11 solo) and limited her opponents to a .173 batting average.

Beasley set or tied SDSU single-season records in strikeouts (354), strikeouts per seven innings (10.33), opponents batting average (.173), solo shutouts (since 1999) (11) and total shutouts (tied, 14), and ranked in the top-five in six other categories.

Despite being a junior, Beasley is the career San Diego State record holder in strikeouts (651), strikeouts per seven innings (9.05) and total shutouts (30). Beasley, who tied Ross with a league-record nine MWC Pitcher of the Week selections in 2010, is also second all-time in win percentage (.662), saves (8), opponents average (.194) and solo shutouts (since 1999) (21).

Beasley led the Aztecs to their third consecutive NCAA tournament, which culminated in a 4-3 loss to Fresno State in the NCAA Los Angeles Regional. Beasley and the SDSU pitching staff set a school record with a combined 435 strikeouts.
