SAN DIEGO - Senior Brittany Knudsen (San Diego/Escondido HS) drove in sophomore Felicia Reifschneider (San Diego/Morse HS) with a one-out single in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the San Diego State softball team to a 1-0 victory over Utah Saturday at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs improved to 31-13 overall (9-3 Mountain West Conference), while the Utes dropped to 24-18 and 4-10. Reifschneider led off the inning with a single and stole second base one batter later. Knudsen followed with a single to center field that scored Reifschneider in a close play at the plate. Knudsen also walked in the game, while sophomore Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS/Cal State Bakersfield) joined Knudsen and Reifschneider with solo singles. Junior Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) allowed four hits (all singles) and a walk over seven innings to improve to 26-8 with her 11th solo shutout of the season. She struck out eight and now has 330 in 209 2/3 innings. Beasley is 21-3 with a 0.77 ERA since Feb. 27 (155 1/3 innings). Following the game, Knudsen and fellow seniors Monica Alnes (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.), Sydney Fleming (Oakland, Calif.) and Stefanie Quichocho-Rosario (San Diego/Morse HS) were honored in a special ceremony. SDSU finishes out its regular season next weekend, beginning with a May 13 game at Colorado State (4 p.m. MT). San Diego State 1, Utah 0
