The NCAA Women's Water Polo Selection Committee on Monday revealed the eight teams that will compete for the national title at the National Collegiate Water Polo Championship to be held at San Diego State's Aztec Aquaplex, May 14-16.
Stanford (24-2) is the tournament's top-seeded team after earning an at-large bid and is followed by another at-large squad in USC (22-3). The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship winner UCLA (20-7) is the field's third-seeded team, while California (24-8) rounds out the top half of the group as the No. 4 seed. The top four seeds all come from the MPSF.
Michigan (32-6) enters the national tournament as the fifth-seeded team after winning the CWPA Eastern Championship title this past weekend. Loyola Marymount (27-4) was assigned the No. 6 seed after earning an automatic bid as a result of its eighth WWPA crown. Wrapping up the field of eight are another pair of automatic qualifiers in Marist (18-15) and Pomona-Pitzer (18-14). The Red Foxes, the MAAC champions, are the No. 7 seed, and the Sagehens, coming out of the SCIAC, is the eighth-seeded team.
All-session passes are currently available for $50 for adults and $25 for youth ages 3-14, seniors 55 and older, students, military and faculty/staff with appropriate identification. These passes can be purchased online at GoAztecs.com, by phone at (619) 283-7378, or in person at the Aztec Ticket Office at Qualcomm Stadium, Window E.
Single-day passes, meanwhile, go on sale May 14, which is the first day of the Championships. Adults may attend for $20, while youth (3-14), seniors (55+), students, military and faculty/staff tickets are $12 with appropriate ID. Single-day passes can be purchased by calling the Aztec Ticket Office, visiting Window E at Qualcomm Stadium or at the Tony Gwynn Stadium box office.
