SAN DIEGO - Four members of the San Diego State baseball team were honored with all-Mountain West Conference recognition at the 2010 pre-tournament banquet held at the San Diego Hall of Champions Monday evening. Sophomore outfielder Brandon Meredith was named to the first team while second baseman Mitch Blackburn, outfielder Cory Vaughn and pitcher Addison Reed were second-team honorees.

Meredith finished the regular season as the top hitter in league play with an average of .489. He also led the MWC in on-base percentage at .575 and runs scored with 29 while ranking among the top 10 in the conference in hits (43) and slugging percentage (.705) over 22 league contests. Overall, he enters the MWC Tournament with a .389 average along with 11 doubles, six home runs and 51 RBI.

Blackburn, who was named the conference player of the week earlier today, hit .417 in 24 league games as he tied with Meredith for the most runs scored with 29. The senior from Temecula, Calif., also compiled a .475 on-base percentage and tied for the conference lead in hits with 45. He enters the week with a .371 overall average and has hit safely in 32 of the Aztecs' last 33 contests.

Vaughn came on strong over the second half of the conference season, finishing with a .418 average along with seven home runs and 31 runs batted in over his 22 games. His RBI total ranked second in the final league stats and his .725 slugging percentage was seventh-best in the MWC. Overall he heads into the MWC Tournament with a .371 average and leads the team with nine home runs and 52 RBI.

Right-hander Addison Reed went 3-0 in conference play with a league-leading 2.33 earned run average. A broken finger forced him to miss three conference starts in what has been a stellar season for the junior from Rancho Cucamonga. His .252 opponent batting average was third-best in the MWC and he finished sixth in strikeouts despite pitching in only half of SDSU's conference series. His overall record stands at 8-1 with a 2.33 ERA and he has not lost since the opening game of the season.

Monday's banquet was a prelude to the 2010 MWC Tournament being hosted by San Diego State this week. UNLV and Brigham will get the tourney started with a contest at 3:00 p.m. (PDT on Tuesday (May 25) at Tony Gwynn Stadium. That will be followed by the Aztecs taking on Utah at 7:00 p.m. (PDT) that evening.
