Junior Eva Sahatdjian (Fresno, Calif.) led off the top of the 10th inning with a home run to give the San Diego State softball team a 7-6 victory over New Mexico Saturday afternoon in Albuquerque. The Aztecs finished their regular season with a 33-14 record, including an 11-4 mark and second-place finish in the Mountain West Conference.

Sahatdjian's game-winning hit came three innings after the Lobos' (11-37, 1-14 MWC) Erin Brandow hit a two-run double in the seventh to send the game into extra innings. It was Sahatdjian's third homer of the season.

After falling down, 2-0, SDSU answered with five runs to take a 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the fifth. Playing on its "Senior Day," UNM closed the score to 5-4 after scoring twice in the inning. A Sahatdjian RBI groundout in the seventh scored senior Brittany Knudsen (San Diego/Escondido HS) put San Diego State up, 6-4, before Brandow forced the game into extra innings.

Knudsen had three hits, including a double, an RBI and her 134th career run, which tied Janna Kovensky (2001-04) for first on the school's all-time list. Sophomore Ashley Rose (Antioch, Calif.) added two hits, including a two-run homer in the fourth. It was her second straight game with a home run. Junior Jessica Camello (Temecula, Calif.) had two hits, a run and an RBI, while freshman Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) singled twice.

Junior Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) got the win after allowing two runs on three walks and two hits over 7 1/3 combined innings. She struck out four to improve to 28-9 in the year.

Sophomore Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.), who came into relieve Beasley in the fifth, gave up four runs on five hits and two hit batters. She struck out two before Beasley re-entered the game in the seventh.

The Aztecs will await a possible NCAA berth, as the field of 64 will be announced live at 7 p.m. PT Sunday on ESPNU.
