ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Pole vaulters Stephanie James, Katie Morgan and Kelsy Hintz combined to score 16 of the team's 25 points to pace the San Diego State track and field team at the 2010 Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.

The 25 points places the Aztecs in sixth after seven completed events, just 1.5 points behind fourth-place Air Force (26.50) and one behind fifth-place UNLV (26). Colorado State leads the way with 67 points, followed by host New Mexico (45.50) and Brigham Young (45). TCU (24), Utah (13) and Wyoming (1) round out the list.

James took second with a vault of 13 feet, 5.24 inches, while Morgan (13-01.50) and Hintz (12-09.50) finished third and seventh, respectively.

Jeanette McConnell took third in the discus throw with a toss of 145-11 and Shana Watson finished sixth in the long jump with a SDSU season-best leap of 19-11.75.

On the track, Kiersten Kirkland qualified for Saturday's final in both the 400-meter hurdles (second, 62.56 seconds) and the 100 hurdles (sixth, 14.25). Briana Johnson will join Kirkland in tomorrow's 100-meter hurdles final after taking fourth in 14.15.

Jessika Hornsby took eighth in both the 100 (12.02, season best) and the 200 (24.79) to qualify for tomorrow's finals, while Alicia King (seventh, 12.02) and Josefine Koskinen (ninth, 2:15.26) each made it in the 100 and 800-meter events.
