Aztec Softball Completes Regular Season This Weekend at Colorado State, New Mexico
Still in the hunt for the Mountain West Conference championship, the San Diego State softball team wraps up its regular season schedule this weekend on the road at Colorado State and New Mexico.

The Aztecs (31-13, 9-3 MWC), who are receiving votes in both national polls and have won 23 of their last 28 games, need to win all three of their games and have MWC-leading Brigham Young lose at Utah on Saturday to claim their fifth MWC title outright and the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. If SDSU and the Cougars (41-11, 11-3 MWC) end up in a tie, then the two teams will be declared co-champions with BYU earning the automatic bid after taking two of three games against San Diego State this season.

The NCAA selection show will air live on Sunday (May 16) at 7 p.m. PT on ESPNU.

Brittany Knudsen leads the Aztecs in batting average (.394), games started (44), hits (50), on-base percentage (.462) and sacrifice bunts (8), while Jessica Camello (.378) and Justeen Maeva (.361) are each above the .300 mark (with enough plate appearances (2.0 per game) to qualify).

Right-handed pitcher Samantha Beasley (26-8) ranks among the top-40 in the nation in seven categories, including top-10 marks in ERA (third, 0.83), strikeouts (ninth, 330), solo shutouts (tied-ninth, 11) and strikeouts per seven innings (11th, 11.02). Right-hander Bailey Micetich (2-5, 3.03 ERA), meanwhile, leads the MWC and is tied for 27th in the country with three saves.
