SAN DIEGO - San Diego State's offense came alive as it set a season high in runs and tied its best in hits and RBI as it defeated Wagner, 18-0, Friday evening at Tony Gwynn Stadium. All nine Aztec starters had hits and eight of them scored at least once while junior right-hander Addison Reed turned in a complete-game shutout performance to notch his sixth straight win.

SDSU (18-20) opened the scoring in the second inning on a two-out two-run single by Jomel Torres, then added three more in the third on an RBI single by Mitch Blackburn and a two-out single by Matt Parker that drove home a pair of runs.

Four additional runs in the fourth made it a 9-0 contest and chased Wagner starter Matt Watson from the mound. Watson would last just 3.2 innings, allowing nine earned runs on seven hits and seven walks as his record fell to 3-3.

Reed (6-1), meanwhile, would go the distance allowing three hits and striking out a career-high 12 hitters with no walks. He faced just two batters over the minimum as a caught stealing erased one of the hits and a double play took care of another. The only other batter to reach against him came on an error as Wagner (16-16) did not have a runner advance past first base.

San Diego State put the finishing touch on the contest with eight runs in the sixth, all of which were unearned. Matt Parker's two-out grounder to short was thrown away, and that opened the flood gates as SDSU went on to score eight times on four hits, three walks and a hit batter.

SDSU's final run came on Blackburn's solo home run in the eighth, his third of the season. The Aztec shortstop finished the night with four hits including two singles, a double and the homer. His four runs scored and five RBI were both career highs while his hit total tied his best effort as an Aztec. In the process, Blackburn extended his current hitting streak to 17 games.

Designated hitter Jomel Torres chipped in with three singles, four RBI and two runs scored while teammate Chris Wilson also had three hits including a double as he drove in three and scored once. Parker and Jordan Van Hoosier also had multiple-hit effort with two singles apiece with the former driving in two and the latter scoring twice.

Wagner and San Diego State will continue their four-game weekend series with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 24, with the first game slated for a 1:00 p.m. (PT) start at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
