SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's golf team plays its final tournament before getting ready for the Mountain West Conference championships next month, as the Aztecs travel to the 12-team Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas at the par-72, 7,235-yard The Traditions Club Golf Course. The field will play two rounds on Saturday, followed by the final 18 holes on Sunday.

The Aggie Invitational features a unique scoring format as squads will include six players each with the low five scores per round counting toward the team total. The 30th-ranked Aztecs are one of six top 30 schools in the tournament, which also includes No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 6 and reigning NCAA champion Texas A&M, No. 7 Texas, No. 14 Texas Tech and No. 24 TCU.

Aztec head coach Ryan Donovan will travel seven total golfers, including junior Johan Carlsson (Gothenburg, Sweden), sophomores Colin Featherstone (Fallbrook, Calif.), Alex Kang (Oak Park, Calif.), J.J. Spaun (San Dimas, Calif.) and Andrew Cooley (New Haw, England) and freshman Tom Berry (New Haw, England). Additionally, sophomore Tyler Morris (Encinitas, Calif.) will compete as an individual.

The Aztecs are playing at the Aggie Invite for the second year in a row, battling the elements in 2009 to tie for fourth place with TCU at 24-over par. The tournament was shortened to a 36-hole event due to thunderstorms.

SDSU is coming off a runner-up performance at the U.S. Intercollegiate at Stanford last weekend which saw Spaun place third overall.

Live stats for both days of the fourth Aggie Invitational will be available on golfstat.com, as well as SDSU's official website, goaztecs.com. The Aztecs are paired with Texas Tech and Kent State for Saturday's two rounds, which get underway at 8 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
