Less than a week after finishing 80th at the Bruin Wave Invitational, San Diego State junior golfer Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) has bounced back to pace the Aztecs through 36 holes Monday at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational at the par-72, 6,223-yard Almaden Country Club. Roberts fired a day one 6-over 150, including a second-round 74, to help SDSU to a tie for seventh place in the team standings at 35-over 611.

Freshman Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) is the second Aztec in the top 20, as she is only stroke behind Roberts at 7-over 151 to sit in 16th place in the 84-golfer field.

SDSU sophomore Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) and junior Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) are tied for 44th place with a 157, while freshman Gina Clark (Palm Desert, Calif.) is close behind in 51st with a 158.

Tournament host and 36th-ranked San Jose State leads by six strokes with a 19-over 595, six strokes better than No. 26 UC Davis and seven up on No. 14 California. Spartan Cristina Corpus also ranks No. 1 individually as the only golfer currently under par with a 1-under 143.

The tournament concludes Tuesday with the third round slated to begin at 8 a.m. PT with a shotgun start. SDSU will be paired with Long Beach State and Oklahoma State and will tee off on the No. 7, 8 and 9 holes.
