Junior Traci Wolf (Lancaster, Calif.) hit a two-run homer in the top of the second inning to lead the San Diego State softball team to a 4-1 victory over Oregon State Monday night in the final game of the San Diego Classic II. The Aztecs improved to 19-9 with the win, while the Beavers fell to 12-14.

It was the first home run of her career for Wolf, who also reached base safely with a walk. Sophomore Felicia Reifschneider (San Diego/Morse HS) had three hits, while junior Jessica Camello (Temecula, Calif.) raised her batting average to .435 with a 2-for-2 outing with a run, RBI and walk.

SDSU sophomore Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) and junior Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) combined on a four-hitter with no earned runs allowed.

The Beavers scored their lone run of the game in the third when Tarah Black led off with a single, then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Maggie Doremus. With Dani Chisholm at the plate, Black got caught in between second and third base, but advanced to third on a fielding error by the San Diego State third baseman. Lea Cavestany followed with a single to right to put OSU on the scoreboard. Beasley (14-6) relieved Micetich and subsequently struck out Oregon State's No. 3 and No. 4 hitters, McKenna Lowe and Paige Hall, ending the brief rally.

The Aztecs added another run in the fifth when junior Jen Wisneski (Riverside, Calif.) got things going with a one-out triple. Camello then took the first pitch she saw through the left side to put SDSU up two scores.

San Diego State's final run came in the seventh as Camello got into scoring position with a single and a stolen base. After Reifschneider moved Camello to third on an infield single, senior Brittany Knudsen (San Diego/Escondido HS) laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt for her 12th RBI of the season.

The Aztecs have now won 11 of their last 12 games.

Micetich scattered one unearned run on two hits over 2 1/3 innings, while striking out two. Beasley, who yesterday set a school, Mountain West Conference and SDSU Softball Stadium record with 21 strikeouts in a nine-inning loss to No. 22/20 Texas A&M, struck out eight over 4 2/3 innings of relief to pick up the victory. She allowed two hits and a walk.

SDSU resumes competition on March 30 with a game at Long Beach State beginning at 2 p.m.
