LOS ANGELES - No. 14 San Diego State swept through the second day of the LMU Invitational on Saturday and beat No. 20 Princeton, 10-8, and Colorado State, 11-1, at Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center on the campus of Loyola Marymount. With the two victories, the Aztecs improve to 16-9 on the season.

Against the 20th-ranked Tigers, San Diego State played even with Princeton in the opening eight minutes of its morning contest and entered the second quarter tied at 3-3 thanks to Aztec goals by Ashley Novack, Leanne Ford and Meaghan Poland. Prior to halftime, Ford found the back of the net and the SDSU defense blanked the Tigers in the frame to take a 4-3 lead into the second half.

Like the first quarter, the third featured three goals apiece from both squads. Scoring for the Scarlet and Black was Poland, Sarah Brady and Melissa de Jonckheere, while Princeton was led by Brittany Zwimer's two goals and Helen Meigs power-play goal.

Nursing a 7-6 lead heading into the final period, San Diego State received a goal from Brady, giving the Aztecs a two-goal cushion. But not two minutes later, Princeton scored twice to knot the game at 8-8 with 3:34 left in regulation.

In the closing minutes of the game, Princeton was called for a pair of exclusion penalties and the Aztecs took full advantage, scoring two power-play goals within a 1:13 of each other to provide the final margin. Alex Ford notched the go-ahead goal with 2:43 left in the game and Leanne Ford tacked on another for good measure with 1:30 to go and the Aztecs defense took over as SDSU pocketed the win.

Then in the afternoon, San Diego State dominated Colorado State from start to finish and scored the first four goals of the game. The Aztecs led 1-0 after one quarter and were up 4-0 before the Rams scored with just under a minute left in the half. Scoring for SDSU in the first 16 minutes were Leanne Ford twice, Brady and de Jonckheere.

In the second half, it was all San Diego State as it scored three times in the third quarter and four times in the fourth to record the 10-goal victory. de Jonckheere contributed three second-half goals, while Novack, Keach, Pedersen and Miller each added one goal apiece.

In today's two games, goalkeeper Kelly Campoli made 12 saves, including eight vs. Colorado State.

San Diego State returns to the pool on Wednesday, March 24, when it plays host to Hawai'i in an MPSF contest at Aztec Aquaplex. The opening sprint is set for 3 p.m. PT.
