SAN DIEGO - The No. 14 San Diego State water polo team earned a split on the first day of the Aztec Invitational presented by Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Saturday afternoon at the Aztec Aquaplex. In the second game against the Seahawks (8-11), SDSU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first half and never looked back en route to the 10-4 victory. Erin Abrams made nine saves in net for the Aztecs.

The opener wasn't as kind for SDSU as the Bears (16-5, 3-2 MPSF) opened up a 4-0 lead after one quarter and a 5-1 advantage at the half. Cal outscored San Diego State, 3-0, in the third before the Aztecs rallied to outscore the visitors, 3-2, in the final period.

Ford and Pezzolla each scored twice and added an assist. Alex Ford had a team-high three steals and assisted on a goal. Kelly Campoli made six stops in goal for SDSU.
