In a field with five of the country's top 10 teams, the San Diego State women's golf finds itself in 11th place overall Monday after the first 18 holes of the Bruin Wave Invitational in Santa Clarita, Calif. The Aztecs logged a 14-over 302 and are seven strokes behind New Mexico and Oregon, who are tied for ninth place, at the par-72, 6,282-yard Valley Course at Robinson Ranch Golf Club.

SDSU was led by sophomore Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden), who started the day with consecutive birdies on her opening two holes and finished with a team-high five en route to a first-round 1-over 73 to tie her for 19th place out of 95 golfers. Aztec freshman Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) looked to match Enarsson's effort, but double-bogeyed her final hole - the par-5 ninth - to come in with a 75 to tie for 38th place.

Junior Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) and freshman Gina Clark (Palm Desert, Calif.) both carded a first-round 77 to tie for 49th place, while junior Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) was never able to recover from a bad start, finishing with an 84 to tie for 88th, despite only going 1-over through the final nine holes.

Eighth-ranked Arizona owns a three-stroke lead over No. 1 UCLA and No. 6 USC with a 5-under 283. Washington's Molly Aronsson and Pepperdine's Danielle Kang are tied atop the individual leaderboard at 5-under 67.

The Bruin Wave Invite continues Tuesday with the second round slated to begin for the Aztecs at 8 a.m. PT off the 10th tee.
